Are you wondering what the new season of “Back To School” will bring your business, classrooms and enrollment? Do you feel like you have the plan for back to school and now you need the right systems in place? If you have staff, and if you’re reading this, you definitely want to read more of today’s coaching session.
Have you noticed that all businesses during this time of the year are setting out pencils, crayons, markers, paper, and book bags? Why is that? Because it’t time for BACK TO SCHOOL! If you don’t believe me, take a look at your local Walmart, Staples, of Office Depot. You’ll get a chance to see that all merchandisers are getting ready for the back to school season.
What should that prompt you to do in your business?
It should begin to prompt you to start doing more back to school preparation in your childcare program, as well. As a way to prepare your childcare program for back to school, you’ll want to begin to look at a few different pillars in your business. For today’s free coaching lesson , we’re going to study the pillar of back to school marketing and training for your staff.
You should begin to create calendars in your business for how you’re going to have meetings with your staff, and how you’re going to market your business to attract more staff.
Here at Akeba Academy, we’ve already begun our marketing for back to school teachers, as well as our back to school enrollment. We’ve also started prepping our team for back to school.
I know we’re only in July right now, and a lot of you may be thinking, “Why are we preparing for back to school so soon? Our summer programs just started.” I always believe that you should stay 30 to 60 days ahead of your schedule so that you have plans in place to help you execute your vision more thoroughly and completely.
This time of the year is what we call Pre-Prep Back To School Training for our teachers.
It’s the time when you begin to prep your team on what you expect them to accomplish in your business during the back to school year. By having your pre-prep time of training with your staff, you can create a flow and follow up for your team. Your flow consists of your meeting topics, and your follow up consists of how you ensure that your team is accomplishing the goals you set before them.
For me, it’s really easy to start my back to school training for my staff. I used my all new Goal Accelerator which includes a section created just for staff management. Having staff management in place allows me to provide my mindset with props which helps me think in the direction of my goals and dreams. For instance, my first goal is to prepare my team for back to school. I then pick up my Goal Accelerator and turn to the section that says, “Staff Management Goals.” I enter in the week I’m planning for my staff training and write the goals I want to accomplish from the staff meeting.
To help me gather goals, and to be clear that I’m optimizing my leadership ability, I ask myself the next question that’s presented in the Goal Accelerator. “What areas in my staffing and my leadership of my staff and their performance will need to improve to have the largest impact in my childcare business?” That leads me to think outside the box, and to ask myself the right questions. What do I need to focus on in my staff trainings and meetings to have the largest impact on my business in a positive way? After thinking about it, I can then write down what comes to me.
To begin to deal with my goals on another level, I ask myself the next question. “What are some common issues that I need to address with my staff or leadership team?” I then write down some of the common mistakes or issues I’ve noticed have been going on in my business that I need to address with my team. After writing this down, I have an “Aha” moment as to what I really need to focus on in meetings.
The next thing is, “My staff development goals and plans to implement to help my staff and business succeed this week.” It helps me create a plan to execute this goal. The next question is, “How can I provoke a positive change to produce an outcome of my staff’s success within the company?” I then think about what I can do to cause this goal to have a positive effect in my business. I know that you’ve been there, where your heart has been good, but the way you go about achieving your goal, your interaction with your staff just doesn’t come out the way you had expected. A lot of that has to do with the way you properly plan to have vision executed.
Asking yourself questions such as these helps you properly prepare for the meeting ahead of time. At the bottom of the staff management goal section, it asks you for tasks you need them to do. This is where you provide the tasks that you want for staff to accomplish so that when you go in to follow up with your team, it’s already completed or you can hold them accountable for their actions.
Then I ask myself, “Do I need to hire new staff for this position or task? What do I need to do with my current staff?” As you can tell, my back to school training has a formula, a format for me to become the best leader for my company to help it produce the best profit. Having this back to school training with your staff is virtually irreplaceable. Don’t ever try to accommodate a one hour meeting to fit in a full day training. Schedule your time wisely, weekends and evenings when you can truly teach your team your vision to help them accomplish it.
