Why is goal setting mid-year so important? Every year around about January, childcare business owners and people of any industry start making a fresh start. They write down goals of what they’re going to eat, where they’re going to go, what they’re going to do, and what life is going to be like for them for the year. They also write down the weight they want to lose, the plans they have for their finances, and the things they want to achieve in their childcare business.
In January, you’re excited; in February, you’re excited; in March, you’re excited, but something happens around April and May. The sight of your goals begins to slip from you because life happens. You go through the ups and downs; you go through the struggle of keeping the same staff; you go through parent issues, marital issues, financial issues, business issues, and enrollment issues. There are so many issues that affect your vision of where you’re headed.
As a childcare entrepreneur and childcare coach, I want to help you shake yourself, and get loose, and move forward in your life and in your business. To be able to shake yourself, get loose, and move forward in your life and in your business, I want to admonish you to really pay close attention to why goal setting in the middle of the year is so important.
#1 I believe that goal setting in the middle of the year is vital to keeping yourself motivated and inspired to succeed. Ninety percent of what you see, you go after and you achieve. If you stop vision planning and stop looking at your goals around April or May, it’s pretty hard for you to achieve anything the rest of the year. This is why I consider May and June a time to kick it up a notch, and review your goals, and also set goals again.
Go back through your goals, and ask yourself, and be honest: “Is this really what I wanted to achieve? Are these goals truly authentic to who I am and what I want for my life and for my business?” When you go back through, and you reassess, and you write your goals down, it helps you have that reality check that you need. It helps you stay committed to your goals and to your dreams.
Here’s another step: The reason why goal setting through the mid-year is so important is because it keeps you feeding your mind with possibilities. I’ve been there in my life and in my business. Things have happened to me, and I felt like, “I just can’t get beyond this point in my life or in my business.” What helps me stay geared up, excited, and achieving is the mere fact that goals do not die; only my motivation and passion to achieve do.
If you’re going to achieve your goals, You must motivate yourself again. By setting goals through the mid-year, it keeps you feeding your mind with what’s possible by looking at your goals and saying to yourself, “I can achieve this. I can do it because I am possible.” When you goal set in the mid-year, it motivates you to keep moving forward.
Step two – it helps you make a new, fresh start. So many childcare business owners start out the year on the right foot, with a fresh start, with a fresh beginning. Mentally, they think that the only fresh start that they have is in January. I am writing this blog to speak to you on the contrary of the fact that every day is a new day to make a fresh start and to achieve your goals.
However, I truly believe that going back through your goal list, your goal accelerator, your task management system, and even your notebook that you’ve written your goals in will help you dream a bigger dream and move forward with achieving your goals. You can move forward achieving your goals by taking a new course such as the My New Fresh Start course. Here’s step three: Planning during the mid-year has the power to give you the boost you need to succeed. Several of you are only in need of a boost. You’re in need of what we call a jolt. It’ll cause you to take a leap. You know that once you take this leap beyond this hurdle, you’ll be at the finish line.
