WHAT SYSTEMS DO YOU NEED IN YOUR CHILDCARE?
For today’s proven management solution, I want to talk to childcare business owners about some great easy reads to make sure that you’re thinking correctly when building your leadership team.
I’m so excited to share with you what we’re reading in the Jumpstart School Of Systems community. I have a few books here with me and one that you are going to love that’s online. I believe that if you are ready to take your business to the next level that hiring a team of people with the mindset of growth is essential.
Now, when it comes to growth, you have to recognize skills that can transfer into the childcare industry. So that means don’t always look for early childhood teachers. Look for people who may have worked in fast food, or look for someone who may have worked in nursing. You want to see if those skills can transfer over into your program. Even look for people with technical skills – people that enjoy tech, people that enjoy online, people that enjoy jobs that aren’t just based in the field of childcare, where you can literally take their leadership skills or take their interests and transfer it over into childcare.
One of the best books to read to help you accomplish that is written by our very own Leadership King himself, John Maxwell, John Maxwell created a book called Developing Top Performing Leaders. And this book gives you over 10 chapters of step by step processes of some of the biggest corporate CEOs that they have used in order to recognize leaders, hire leaders, train leaders and develop leaders. And honestly, if you go right now to Amazon, and type in John Maxwell and the title Development Leaders, you may even come across the amazing deal that I did, where it was absolutely free on Kindle. So be sure to go and check that out. I’m telling you, it will have you munching and reading at the same time, thank me later.
And then, you want to understand how to take and grow your childcare staff, you may have staff members who’ve never managed anybody and never managed themselves. However, just because a person hasn’t had the experience of leading or managing people, doesn’t mean it cannot be taught. So here’s a great reason I recommend which is called How To Lead When You Are Not In Charge. So one of the greatest myths about leadership is that you have to be in charge in order to lead. But I believe in peer to peer accountability. And I thought that this would be something that would encourage you because it’s talking about leveraging influence when you lack authority. So you want to give this type of content and information to your mentor teachers, your curriculum teachers. And so if you read it, then I’m sure you’re gonna grab some content to include in training and mentoring your team to encourage them that you may not be the director, or you may not be the CEO, but you are a leader. And you want to give them the resources, where you help them unleash their influence in order to lead new hires, in order to lead their peers into helping you run a major organization.
So this is by Clay and Andy Stanley, and I think it’s a great read. So go check it out on Amazon. Then I started reading this amazing book when I realized that sometimes what I say can be strong, and with it being strong, everybody cannot learn from my type personality. And that’s why I provide exclusive coaching one on one where I literally get into your world, you get into my world and you get to know me and it’s hands on and the reason why is because I am strong and how I think I’m strong in my opinion. And I’m very confident in things. So what I had to
learn was with me working with so many people and wanting to grow my organization that I had to learn the language that leads. And this is what I love about this book is that it inspires your team to use verbal and nonverbal communication strategies. And what I also love about it was that I learned to see myself and the errors that I made to build my team, or even just interacting with people on a day to day basis. So I think that if you are a CEO, and you’re ready to do more to inspire your team, because you’re not a hard taskmaster, your systems are in place, and all you want to do now is to inspire and encourage them to evolve. This is going to shift you to the next level with the right communication strategies that inspire engagement. This is by Kasia Wezowski and you can find this on Amazon as well. It’s a very affordable book, I know that I found this book in Books a Million, but it is available online as well. So if you want to learn how to become a great communicator, and build a team of people, to become great communicators, to inspire people to run a business based on your vision, this will increase your ability to do so. So be sure to wrap it.
And last but not least, we have our all new leadership and growth systems that we have added into the Jumpstart School Of Systems. And so with our leadership and growth system, it contains the information you need to encourage your new hires to go through an ascension program. So we have the ascension broken into different levels. And we have a framework called the Level 5 teacher. And so in our leadership and growth systems, we have the layout for your leadership program, the criteria for each level in the ascension program. We also have incentives, and we have performance standards. So like the KPIs, this leadership and growth process goes all the way back to your recruiting process, your hiring process, your orientation, your onboarding, and then it moves them into leadership quickly thereafter. And so that’s my I believe that the more you read, the faster you will succeed. And we understand that. So that’s why we have this type of book club community, as well as the SOPs and the systems to help owners to accomplish it easily.
