WHAT SYSTEMS DO YOU NEED IN YOUR CHILDCARE?
For today’s proven management solution, I want to talk to childcare business owners about the mindset they need in order to train the trainer. So if you have where you’re constantly bringing on new hires into your program and you’re giving them to the present classroom teachers to train your new hires, let me give you some of the most important key steps to follow to ensure that this process is seamless.
In the Jumpstart School Of Systems, we provide owners with information on creating their classroom foundation system. This classroom foundation system is key because now you are giving the classroom what should be in the centers, and what the names of the centers are. And if you have a management process for those centers, you’re describing all of that in your foundation system.
2. You want to make sure that your classroom has a Jumpstart Starting Point.
So we call it the Jumpstart Bin. Inside the Jumpstart Bin is a step-by-step checklist that takes the new hire from orientation to classroom management, health and safety and to classroom organization, behavior, etc.
Several different departments are found in our document. The document is located inside the Jumpstart Bin, and the Jumpstart Bin has everything that the teachers need to run the room. And then we make sure that we train the trainer on the classroom foundation system, and we train the trainer on the Jumpstart Bin.
3. We set competency standards.
So these competency standards for our School Of Systems consist of three words in our terminology workbook. The first word is Competence. The second word is Progress and the third word is Mastery. We then define what that behavior looks like when a person is competent, making progress, and when a person has mastered it.
Then you determine which of these employees or teachers have the capability of showing behaviors of mastery. Once they show behaviors of mastery, you select these individuals to go through your training program. We call that training program the Level-5 10-week teacher training. You take them through the Level-5 10-week teacher training so that all of your classroom foundation, classroom jumpstart bins, classroom checklists, orientation, classroom management, classroom organization, and behavior checklist. All of these are trained using audio, visual, hands-on, and even down to self-help resources.
Once you complete these types of operational tasks and put them in place, you will be empowered to train the trainer.
So what are the results of training the trainer?
Well, I’ll tell you one of the results of training the trainer is that you’re giving your team what they need to help your program grow by empowering them to complete the job.
So many owners missed this step because we just throw the people in the room and we think they got it, and we give them a checklist, but we have to be more strategic and use an operational mindset.
When you come to the School Of Systems, I’m going to talk to you about an operational mindset, and I’m going to clue you in on how to prepare to train the trainer in your program, you’re going to learn so much about the proper way to set up a classroom, organize your systems, set up your binders, and be prepared to have a team of people manage your business so that you can operate as the owner. I cannot wait.
