WHAT SYSTEMS DO YOU NEED IN YOUR CHILDCARE?

What Makes A Team Better In Childcare

You don’t have to do anything to be a Group, but you have to EARN the right to call yourself a TEAM!

Everyone wants to be part of a TEAM, but how do you really make that happen?
Answer:
It operates from the premise that everything you do, say or think is either supporting you in creating more group or elevating you into experiencing TEAM.
Going from Group to TEAM can mean massive change in:
1. Your behavior-Most of you that are reading this blog must understand that if I can build a team then any one of you can build a team. I was my worst enemy. What do I mean by that? I blew my self control lots of days when the staff either didn’t respond responsibly or did not do their job roles as they should.

Here’s what I learned from that:

Be willing to address staff when you are calm and not caught up in the moment.

When addressing staff be willing to address the behavior and not attack the person.

After modeling self control another key secret that I learned to do was to take time and build them up during trainings and meetings.

Effective management meetings and teacher trainings offers you the time and chance for team building.

Working extra time with the people that I hired was done in HOPES that they would be willing to change and become the TEAM that I needed. I understand clearly that I needed people who could support my goals and dreams for my childcare program all while doing it in excellence.

One way that I felt I was accomplishing this was with my Monday Morning Leadership Meetings:

During this meeting with my leaders and managers (BEST PERFORMING STAFF) I would ask questions, discuss our company goals, provide feedback and listen for times to congratulate them for their week of success.

Sample Questions To Ask:

1. What’s going well in your role? Any wins (big or small) this week?

2. What challenges are you facing? Where are you stuck?

3. What is the business doing, or can be doing, to make you more successful?

4. How are you feeling? What’s the morale around you?
5. On a scale of 1-10, how happy are you? Why?

6. What’s the best thing that happened to you this week, either at work or outside of it?

7. Provide one idea to improve the classrooms and service provided by your company

8. If you owned the company, what’s one thing you would do differently?

9. What were some great contributions made by other team members?

10. Provide examples of constructive feedback on how I can be a better leader.

The next important key is the Behavior of your TEAM:

When I host meetings or trainings the standard is set. We both are to write. Writing with my Jumpstart Business Booster is the key to having accountability amongst the leaders and staff. Your selection of your management team depends solely upon having wisdom of who to choose.

If you’ve got anyone that can follow your lead, offer fairness and can be firm all while operating in integrity, try this person out. Bring them into a leadership meeting with you and ask the above questions. Listen for their responses.

Your buy-in – and everyone else will buy-in.

Company buy in is a must-have and it comes from you knowing your team and offering them information to help them become better equipped to support the vision. My secret sauce that helps me with that are  my Teacher Trainings.

It’s done during a time with there are no disturbances from the day to day operations, preferably on a Saturday.

I prepare for this meeting by providing team members with critical information to empower their performances, gather greater knowledge about our brand and to teach the children, which creates the end product.

And when people work as a TEAM, more gets done, of better quality, in less time and with less effort.
