But before you make that decision, I need you to pause and hear me clearly: <strong>your problem isn\u2019t your staff \u2014 it\u2019s your leadership style.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Passive leadership looks like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expecting your director to \u201cfix\u201d everything without guidance.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assuming your team should \u201cjust know\u201d what to do.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Failing to hold people accountable because you don\u2019t want conflict.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s time to stop being passive and start being <strong>proactive.<\/strong> Because when you have the right systems in place, leading your team becomes easy \u2014 predictable even. Your team shouldn\u2019t have to guess your vision \u2014 they should see it in your systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stop saying, \u201cWhat do you think we should do?\u201d and start saying, \u201cHere\u2019s the plan.\u201d<br>Your job as the CEO is to be the <em>visionary.<\/em> That\u2019s why you need a proven framework that shows your team <strong>what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and why it matters.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At my <strong>Jumpstart School of Systems<\/strong>, we teach childcare CEOs how to implement processes that run your business like clockwork \u2014 even when you\u2019re not there. Accountability builds trust, consistency, and quality care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 3: Lead with Clarity and Communication<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If your team doesn\u2019t know the <em>why<\/em> behind what they do, they\u2019ll never give you their best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tell your staff:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>What<\/strong> you want done<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>When<\/strong> you want it done<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>How<\/strong> you want it done<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Why<\/strong> it matters<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When your team understands how their actions affect the children, the parents, and the overall success of your center, they take ownership. You transform them from \u201cworkers\u201d into <strong>leaders within your system.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Step 4: Track the Real Problems<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many childcare CEOs say, \u201cMy director isn\u2019t doing her job,\u201d or \u201cMy staff just doesn\u2019t listen.\u201d<br>But when we dig deeper, the real problem is <strong>lack of data.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re not tracking your team\u2019s performance, your closeout reports, or your processes, you\u2019re not managing \u2014 you\u2019re guessing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I always say:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou can\u2019t mind the business that pays you if you\u2019re not tracking what matters.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, if something isn\u2019t working \u2014 your enrollment, your staff, your classrooms \u2014 don\u2019t just complain about it. Measure it. Review it.
