There was a freeze on state funding, no new childcare certificates, and to make matters worse, I had just experienced a major staff turnover \u2014 my center director and most of my team left, leaving me with just four loyal staff members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was painful. Stressful. Lonely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But through prayer, I heard something that changed my perspective forever. God told me, \u201cStrengthen that which remains.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At that moment, I realized I could either focus on what I had lost or be grateful for what I still had. Those four team members who stayed deserved my full attention, gratitude, and leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, I made a decision \u2014 to start each day documenting three reasons I was grateful. It\u2019s a strategy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you practice gratitude in your childcare business, it does three powerful things:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>1. Strengthen That Which Remains<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Even when times are hard, you still have people showing up for you \u2014 your teachers, assistants, and even your parents. Take a moment to strengthen them. Send a thank-you note, write a kind message, or just say \u201cI appreciate you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These small gestures boost morale and remind your team that they matter. Gratitude creates connection, and connection fuels commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Shift the Energy and Productivity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A simple \u201cthank you\u201d can shift the entire atmosphere of your center. It doesn\u2019t have to be grand \u2014 it just needs to be genuine. Buy lunch for your team, send a text of appreciation, or leave a short note of encouragement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When your staff feels appreciated, their productivity increases naturally. They show up happier, more focused, and more willing to go the extra mile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>3. Cultivate an Abundance Mindset<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you focus on what\u2019s missing, you block growth. But when you\u2019re grateful for what\u2019s already in front of you \u2014 your team, your parents, your children \u2014 you open the door to more opportunities and blessings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s called the abundance mindset, and it\u2019s one of the most powerful leadership tools you can develop as a childcare owner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Real-Life Turnaround<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>One of my clients, Holly, experienced her own season of challenge. Staff were quitting, state funds were delayed, and the pressure was intense.
