Just to give you guys a little bit of history, when I started in childcare, I wasn’t goal-setting like this. I had no clue how much more impactful I would be if I would just write down what it was that I wanted to accomplish and achieve.
And because I didn’t start like this, just like you, I dealt with being overwhelmed. I dealt with having a long list of things to do and nothing ever got done. I felt like, ‘What did I accomplish today?’ Because there was nothing that could be checked off.
I didn’t understand how to pace myself, allow myself to grow and evolve, and develop the concept that I had in my mind for my business.
And so I started going through what I call a let-it-out process. I get a chance to take what is in my head and put it on paper. No rhyme or reason. There are no lines. I don’t have to stay in the lines. I can just write. Typically, I write words that mean something to me, that stand out to me.
I write what I’ve been thinking, what is going on with my team, what I need to discuss, what I need to buy, etc. The reason why I start with the let-it-out process first is because I want to be clear about what I need to accomplish and what I need to do to get to that point.
And then once I get clarity about what it is that I want to do, I follow the Goal Achievement Process.
Therefore, when we do it like this, it allows me to tap into seeing it, having clarity about it, being able to delegate it, and being able to make sure that I can go back to my foundation and make sure that it was done.
So if you are a planner, don’t look any further.
