For today’s proven management solution, I want to talk to childcare business owners about how to become a Top Producing CEO. Let’s discover the habits that you must acquire if you’re interested in finding out something like this, be sure to continue reading this blog.

Now, there are some strategies that I’m going to share today that you can utilize, whether you’re in childcare or any type of business, but one thing I want you to do is to grab your pen and paper because I’m going to share with you what to focus on so that you can become a Top Producing CEO. There’s something that top producers are doing. They’re not sitting around like the traditional childcare business owner discussing what’s happening right now with the federal loans, federal government, and grants. They are trying to figure out what to do, and that is by focusing on solutions.

I told you guys years ago that we cannot depend on State funds, federal funds, or grants alone. You are a CEO and a business owner so you have to think and move like a CEO and business owner.

Here’s a quick testimony. In all my years of being in business, I haven’t received any grants outside of the traditional funding that assists parents with caring for children and those are the only funds. If I’ve created any additional funds from that, it is because of these habits that I’m going to talk to you about today. And the number one is how you think. You have to start thinking about solutions.

Most top-producing CEOs are thinking of ways how to maintain productivity in their organization. You may have directors on your staff and you’re like, they’re not really marketing or doing this and that. Well, that is how the common business owner thinks but top-producing CEOs are thinking of ways to utilize processes and systems and give them tasks that have to be completed and returned with some level of accountability at the end of the day, they’re not focusing in on what they’re not doing. They’re focusing on their system. Because something about their system has to be repaired for them to offer accountability. Some of you are asking staff members to do tasks that you haven’t planned for them to do. But as a top-producing CEO, you’re creating plans that your team can follow.

As a top-producing CEO, you have individuals creating a non-negotiable task list. These non-negotiable task lists support the CEO’s goals and their to-do list. So for example, if it’s been a long time since you’ve had a marketing class and now all of a sudden, the funding that you were used to or the free childcare option you were offering is no longer available. Then now is the time to stop looking at, “Oh, my God, they took this away.”  to “What can I do to attract clients to me? What process in my business do I need to upgrade? What process is in my company do I need to implement new systems, automation, or a childcare CRM? What do I need to do to improve my company?”

This is not the time to start thinking about closing down, quitting, and giving up. This is the time to really start utilizing that 1% habit that so many owners have laid to the side because they have not been doing what it takes to run a company like a company. This is the time for you to start operating more like the top 1%.

Everybody else is going left by complaining, but you have to go right by seeking solutions, seeking ways to improve the productivity of your team, and seeking ways to determine what some non-negotiable tasks my team must do. And here’s the final one, when you begin to think more like a CEO, and you are not comparing yourself to who’s losing but you’re looking at the winners. You start creating what we call called income-generating activity. You start looking at what can my team do to help me generate activity towards my marketing. Can you get your team to start doing some things with posting? Can you get your team to start answering the phone correctly during the sales process? Can you train your team to text everyone on their phones to tell them that you have spots available? Like, what are you doing to generate activity in your business that helps you generate income? This is what top-producing CEOs are thinking about.

Your number one role is being the income generator. And if you are finding yourself in the kitchen, in the classroom, answering the phone, on the bus run, you, my dear, are out of place. You are not operating like the top 1% of CEOs who are tracking data to determine what’s working for their marketing and what’s not working. This is why you have depended so much on State funds, on federal funds because you have not tapped into becoming the true CEO of your childcare program.

Now, granted, we all have ebbs and flows in business, I have them. You have them. Whoever else is watching has them. But what I’m telling you is, don’t get comfortable with the handout. You still have to get out there, meet with CEOs of other companies’ networks, and see if you can market to their staff, or see if you can offer childcare services to their staff. You have to get your thinking hat on to figure out solutions when everybody’s going left with complaining, then start going right with planning, strategizing, creating lists for non-negotiables, training your team to have income-generating activity, etc.

I hope today that I’ve said something that will motivate and inspire you to start producing, like the top 1% of childcare business owners in childcare. These are the ones who got 10 locations or more. They don’t have time to figure out what’s not working. They have to figure out, what can they do to make this work. I want you to start thinking like that.
