One of the most important strategies that childcare business owners must do is to set a time to prepare their teachers and staff for the new year of business. Teams are developed when they spend time gathering new information from the visionary of the company.
One of the reasons why several teams are dysfunctional is because of the lack of information. Without weekly or bi weekly input from the childcare business owner, staff become complacent.
It’s very easy to keep the momentum and the drive going with a team by offering them information to become better in their roles within your childcare business. Provide your team of teachers with information that will teach them how to support you and your vision as often as you can.
It’s best to start as early as two or three months before the new year arrives. It will allow you to work out kinks and keep redirecting behavior before the new year begins. Teams require a focus to accomplish more in their classrooms and their roles therefore, start your year with a single mind focus.
It’s best to focus on your company vision and your company mission for the new year. When you do, provide staff with visuals, audios and booklets that depict your yearly focus. That way you’re appealing to all styles of learners.
Finally, before you host your training/meeting determine your accountability check points for your team. People will respect what you inspect. Get out of the habit of starting new projects without having a follow through system.
Here’s a great tool my staff and I use and it works very well to hold staff accountable. It’s my all new Staff Organizer! What this product does for team members is it provides them with an all-in-one planner for their curriculum, center learning areas, bulletin boards, monthly calendars, the yearly vision, time trackers and activity schedule for the classroom. It’s an amazing strategy for organizing your classroom, your teachers and your childcare business to be on one accord.
