WHAT SYSTEMS DO YOU NEED IN YOUR CHILDCARE?
For today’s proven management solution, I want to talk to childcare business owners about ways to not have to get ready, but to stay ready for your back to school. If this is something you’d like to know more about, be sure to read this blog.
Right now, people are returning back from vacation. You’re returning back from just really enjoying your summer. Maybe you didn’t go on vacation, maybe you’ve been just monitoring your summer program, but at the end of the day, don’t wait until a month before it’s time for you to go back to school. It’s time for you to start putting all of your processes in place to ensure that you have a successful back-to-school season.
So right now you want to start thinking about follow-ups. You want to start giving your parents a call to confirm that they will be back for your back-to-school season. So you need to have an SOP for that. You should have call scripts that your team can easily use and have on your yearly calendar when it’s time to confirm attendance.
You should also check your KPIs. You want to make sure that you understand how many students you need to enroll when it comes to the back-to-school season, so check your KPIs and make sure that you are on track.
I remember when I learned about budgeting I used to create a budget at 100% and then I started learning about financial success in childcare and how important it is to have a budget that’s at 85% so that you have that cushion for just in case moments. Once I started budgeting and understanding how to manage the back office of my child care program, it started giving me the energy that I needed to keep going and not wait 30 days before, because by waiting for all of my competitors and institutions and organizations, nonprofits and for-profit organizations, they were already pushing back to school sign-ups, and here I was waiting to the end because I thought, “Oh, I’ll just wait. I’ll just wait.” Oh, boy, was I wrong.
And so then I started putting plans in place to be 60 days ahead. To start putting in place how to get in contact to have my parents return to me, how to encourage my current parents who stayed for the summer to re-enroll and refer others to me, and the type of events that I needed to host for back to school. These are all processes that you should have in place, and these processes should be indicated on your yearly calendar so that when it comes up, you don’t have to get ready because you stay ready.
Make some community contacts, put some marketing strategies in place create a blueprint of marketing tasks that you will complete in your organization to ensure that you’re ready for every season that comes your way in childcare.
